Bounty Hunter is the fourth special Sprite variant of Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override," announced in Epic's v42.20 update notes on Thursday, September 17, 2026, and due the following Thursday, September 24. It joins Gold, Cheat Master and Loot Hacker, making it the fifth Season 4 form once you count Normal. In the Sprite directory, Bounty Hunter forms wear a magenta and pink hologram look that sets them apart from gold shimmer and green code-rain.
Epic calls them "combat-hungry Sprites," and the whole line is built around fights. As of September 17, 2026, no Bounty Hunter Sprite is live yet, and Epic has published only two rules: they "have a chance to appear when you eliminate opponents," and they level up "only from eliminations." Epic has not published a separate stat bonus beyond that levelling rule, so this page does not list one — anything more specific you see elsewhere is unconfirmed until the variant goes live.
When Bounty Hunter Sprites Arrive and How to Get Them
Epic's v42.20 notes set the date: "next Thursday, September 24, Bounty Hunter Sprite variants join the fray… These combat-hungry Sprites have a chance to appear when you eliminate opponents, leveling up only from eliminations. Rack 'em up!" Epic has not published an exact launch time for September 24. The route it describes is eliminations: take out opponents in a match for a chance at a Bounty Hunter Sprite, then extract before the match ends, because an unextracted Sprite does not count toward your collection.
Epic has not said whether chests, Cheat Codes or Loot Hacks will also hand out Bounty Hunter Sprites, so treat eliminations as the only confirmed source for now. The levelling rule matters just as much as the drop: a Bounty Hunter Sprite gains levels only from eliminations, so aggressive players will max one out faster than anyone who plays passively. No Season 4 drop rate has been published, Bounty Hunter included, so every Bounty Hunter rate on this site stays marked unpublished.
Bounty Hunter vs Gold, Cheat Master and Loot Hacker
Each special form has its own documented perk. Gold adds 3× bonus Sprite XP from eliminations. Cheat Master makes every Cheat Code input count as correct and wears the green code-rain look. Loot Hacker increases the chances of spawning items from your Loot Hacks. Bounty Hunter is the odd one out: instead of a published bonus, it has a rule — it appears from eliminations and levels up only from eliminations. Gold and Bounty Hunter both reward fighting, but in different ways: Gold multiplies the XP you get from eliminations, while Bounty Hunter makes eliminations the only way to level.
The v42.20 Cheat Code Rarity Update also landed on September 17: Rare (blue) and Epic (purple) Cheat Codes can now contain Sprites of any rarity, Epic codes have significantly increased chances of variants, and Legendary (orange) Cheat Codes are guaranteed to drop a variant Sprite. Epic's notes do not say whether Bounty Hunter forms will be part of those Cheat Code drops once they go live, so eliminations remain the route to plan around.
Which Sprites Have a Bounty Hunter Form?
Bounty Hunter art exists for 20 Sprites — every Season 4 Sprite except Mega Man, which is single-form: Bush, Adventure, Jonesy, 8-Bit, Storm Scout, Overshield, Onigiri, Shadow, Tails, Killswitch, Sonic, Jackrabbit, X-Ray, Klombo, Crown, the v42.20 arrivals Pond, Crash Bandicoot and Blinky, plus Birthday and Morgana. Two caveats: the Birthday Sprite itself is only available starting Saturday, September 26, and Morgana is in the files but not in Epic's notes, with no announced release date. Epic has not said how Bounty Hunter Crown unlocks; Crown's other forms come from its Victory Royale chain.
The free Sprite Checklist already has a Bounty Hunter column, with each cell marked "Soon" until that row goes live — the cells unlock the day Bounty Hunter Sprites arrive. Until then they do not count toward completion: as of September 17, 2026, a full Season 4 board is 73 released variant rows across 19 Sprites. Once they are live, tick each Bounty Hunter row as you extract it and use the Missing filter to see which ones your Sprite Garden still needs.
