What the Honey Sprite Does

Honey is an Epic Sprite added to Chapter 7 Season 4 “Override” with the v42.40 update on October 15, and it closes out the Design-A-Sprite contest. Epic credits community member Conejito_sam with the design. Honey is the fifth and last contest winner to reach the game, after X-Ray and Onigiri on September 3, Pond on September 17 and Dumpster Dive on October 1. Like Pond and Dumpster Dive, it sits in the Epic tier.

Its ability, in Epic’s v42.40 wording, which the live Sprite directory repeats word for word: “Chance to spawn bees at the hit location upon dealing damage with a ranged weapon.” Three details matter. The trigger is dealing damage, so simply firing is not the documented condition; the weapon has to be ranged; and the bees appear where your hit lands rather than around you. Epic’s October 1 preview described Honey differently, and some write-ups still repeat that pre-release text. The wording above is the one that shipped.

How to Find and Collect Honey

Honey went live on Thursday, October 15, 2026 with v42.40, a full patch. It was available as soon as servers came back from the update, around 2:30 AM PT / 5:30 AM ET, rather than at the 6 AM PT daily reset. One Wish Willow, the Obsession Sprite, arrived in the same update, and both new Sprites had all six forms live from the start. The live Sprite directory lists no spawn area for Honey, so there is no named landing spot to recommend.

No Season 4 drop rates have been published anywhere reliable, and the directory’s 0% labels are placeholders rather than proof that Honey cannot be found. Epic’s v42.40 notes also scheduled Trick or Treat Power Hours for Saturday, October 17, starting at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET with a second round at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET, and said the Trick or Treat Sprite variant appears more often during them. The notes give no per-Sprite odds, so treat that as a general window for Trick or Treat forms, not a promise of Trick or Treat Honey.

Honey Variants: Six Live Forms

Honey has six live forms from day one: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker, Bounty Hunter and Trick or Treat. Each keeps the same bee ability and adds its own bonus. Gold gives 3× bonus Sprite XP from eliminations, Cheat Master makes all Cheat Code inputs count as correct, and Loot Hacker increases the chances of spawning items from your Loot Hacks. Bounty Hunter Honey has a chance to find Sprites when eliminating opponents, and it gains Sprite XP only from eliminations.

Trick or Treat Honey is live and counts like any other row, but the directory has not published a Trick or Treat bonus yet, so treat the bee ability as its only confirmed effect. Honey has no Quack form. The v42.40 Quack forms went to five other Sprites, and Honey’s Quack cell on the checklist shows N/A instead of a box to tick.

What Is Unpublished, and How to Play Around It

The description says “chance” without giving a percentage, and it does not say how that chance changes as Honey levels. Some Sprites, such as Vampire, describe what leveling improves; Honey’s directory entry has no Level Up line at all, so this guide does not claim that leveling makes the bees more frequent or stronger. Neither source lists how many bees appear, how long they stay or how much damage they deal. Melee is open too: Epic’s wording names ranged weapons only, and nothing published says whether a melee hit can spawn bees.

In practice, Honey rewards landing ranged hits. The wording ties the chance to dealing damage, so more ranged hits mean more opportunities for bees, and because they appear at the spot your shot connects, they show up near your target rather than beside you. How often a hit actually produces bees is not public, so treat them as a bonus rather than something to build a fight around. If much of your damage comes from melee attacks, compare The Deer, whose melee attacks deal additional damage; if you want something back from the damage you deal, compare Vampire, which restores some of your Health when you damage an enemy. These are different triggers, not a verified ranking.

Track Each Honey Form Separately

The free Sprite Checklist saves your collection in your browser and treats each Honey form as its own row. Owning Normal Honey does not mark Gold or any other theme as owned. Use the Missing filter before a session to pick a target, then tick the exact cell once that form is in your collection. Mastery is tracked separately, so finding a form and leveling it remain distinct goals.

All six Honey rows have been collectable since October 15, so none of them shows Soon. Share links and backup codes keep the collection you recorded, and codes created before this update still decode correctly. The Season 3 archive remains a separate checklist, so a find from that older generation does not stand in for a current Override Sprite.

Frequently asked questions

When did the Honey Sprite release?

Thursday, October 15, 2026, with the v42.40 update. It was live as soon as servers came back, around 2:30 AM PT / 5:30 AM ET, with all six forms available from the start.

Who designed the Honey Sprite?

Community member Conejito_sam, credited by Epic. Honey is the fifth and last Design-A-Sprite winner to release, after X-Ray, Onigiri, Pond and Dumpster Dive.

What does the Honey Sprite do?

In Epic’s words: “Chance to spawn bees at the hit location upon dealing damage with a ranged weapon.” The size of the chance, how it scales with level, and the bees’ count, duration and damage have not been published.

Does Honey work with melee attacks?

Unconfirmed. Epic’s wording names ranged weapons only, and no published source says whether melee hits can spawn bees.

Is there a Trick or Treat or Quack Honey Sprite?

Trick or Treat Honey is live and counts toward your checklist; its bonus has not been published yet. There is no Quack Honey, so that cell shows N/A.

Where does Honey spawn?

The live Sprite directory does not list a spawn location for Honey, so this page does not name one.

What is the Honey Sprite drop rate?

Unpublished. No Season 4 drop rates have been published anywhere reliable; the directory’s 0% is a placeholder, so this site leaves the rate empty.
