What the Storm Scout Sprite Does in Season 4

The Storm Scout Sprite is the twelfth Sprite of the Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" generation and the first one added after launch day. It is a Rare Sprite built entirely around the Storm: once you take 10 points of Storm damage, it grants Overdrive and unlimited Energy for a short burst — around 12 seconds at low level, stretching to about 20 seconds as the Sprite levels up. Overdrive is the same movement state Season 3's Cube variants handed out, so you sprint faster, jump higher, steer better in the air and never run out of stamina while it lasts.

At max level Storm Scout adds a second, far rarer perk: it reveals future Storm Circles, showing where the zone will close before the rest of the lobby knows. That is the old Storm Scout Sniper Rifle's scope trick reborn as a passive, and it changes how you rotate — you can claim the next circle's high ground early instead of guessing. Between the escape button and the map foresight, this is the roster's dedicated rotation Sprite.

How to Get the Storm Scout Sprite

Storm Scout went live on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, timed to the start of Sonic Power Hours — a weekend drop rather than the usual Thursday Sprite reset. It is not a limited-time event Sprite: it joined the regular Season 4 pool and stays obtainable for the rest of Override. Like the launch roster it is spotted near high and mountainous areas of the island, and it also comes out of chests and Cheat Code consoles — Rare (blue) and Epic (purple) codes can drop Sprites of any rarity since v42.20, Epic codes have much better odds of variants and higher-rarity Sprites, and Legendary (orange) codes guarantee a variant.

There is no Lobby Hack or Admin Panel code that hands you a Storm Scout, so this one is earned in matches. The rule that never changes still applies: extract it before the match ends or it does not count. A successful extraction adds Storm Scout to your collection permanently, drops it into your Sprite Garden, and makes it summonable in every match after. Epic has not published drop rates for any Season 4 row, Storm Scout included, so its rate column stays honestly empty until real numbers exist.

Storm Scout Sprite Variants: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker and Bounty Hunter

Normal, Gold and Cheat Master Storm Scout arrived together on August 29, and Loot Hacker Storm Scout entered the loot pool on September 10. Each is its own row on the checklist and each carries the identical Storm ability. Gold Storm Scout adds bonus Sprite XP from eliminations on top, which is a natural fit here — Storm Scout's duration scales with level, so the faster you level it, the longer every Overdrive burst lasts. Cheat Master Storm Scout wears the season's green code-rain look and makes every Cheat Code input count as correct. The Loot Hacker form increases the chances of items spawning from your Loot Hacks, and the Bounty Hunter form adds a chance to find Sprites when you eliminate opponents, though it gains Sprite XP only from eliminations.

Because the variants drop in matches like any other Sprite, completing the Storm Scout line is a matter of hunting and extracting every form — five live forms since Thursday, September 24, when Bounty Hunter Storm Scout started turning up by chance from eliminations. The free Sprite Checklist tracks each row independently, just like the in-game collection screen, so you always know whether it is the Gold, the Cheat Master, the Loot Hacker or the Bounty Hunter you are still missing. Every one of those rows counts toward Season 4 completion.

Is the Storm Scout Sprite Worth Using?

Storm Scout is the best pure rotation tool in the Rare tier. Getting caught outside the circle is the most common way a good game ends, and a Sprite that turns Storm damage into free Overdrive removes most of that risk — the instant the zone bites you, you get the speed to fix it. It pairs especially well with Jackrabbit's double jump for mountain rotations, and with any loadout that wants to loot the edge of the zone longer than is strictly sensible.

The trade-off is that its power is conditional: if you never touch the Storm, Storm Scout does nothing, while Bush hides you and Jonesy heals you every match regardless. That makes it a specialist pick rather than a default — but a mastered Storm Scout, with its future-circle reveal, is a genuinely unique advantage no other Sprite in the Override roster offers. Extract it when you see it, level it, and let the Storm work for you.

Trick or Treat Variant: Upcoming

v42.30 added a Trick or Treat Storm Scout Sprite icon on October 1, 2026, but this form is still marked unreleased in the Sprite directory. The five core forms remain live. The checklist shows Trick or Treat as Soon and excludes it from your completion total until its release is verified. The variant bonus and wider release date have not been published.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Storm Scout Sprite do in Fortnite?

After you take 10 Storm damage it grants Overdrive and unlimited Energy for a burst that lasts longer with each level (roughly 12 to 20 seconds). At max level it also reveals future Storm Circles on the map.

When was the Storm Scout Sprite released?

Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, at the start of Sonic Power Hours. It had been in the game files since the Season 4 launch on August 20 but stayed unreleased until then.

Where do I find the Storm Scout Sprite?

Near high and mountainous areas of the Season 4 island, plus chests and Cheat Code consoles — since v42.20, blue and purple codes can drop any rarity, purple codes have better variant odds, and Legendary (orange) codes guarantee a variant. There is no Lobby Hack for it, and you must extract it before the match ends to keep it.

What rarity is the Storm Scout Sprite?

Rare, alongside Bush, Adventure, Jonesy and 8-Bit. Rarity affects how often it appears, not how strong the Storm ability is.

What is the Storm Scout Sprite's drop rate?

Epic has not published Season 4 drop rates, so this page shows a verified empty state instead of an estimate. Real rates are added the day they are published.
