Open the Sprite Checklist →What the Crown Sprite Does in Season 4
The Crown Sprite is the prestige piece of the Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" roster. One of the launch generation's two Mythics, it carries the most demanding progression rule Sprites have ever had: it only levels up by winning matches, and it levels faster with Crown Wins. There is no XP shortcut, no farming route, no campfire trick — the Crown Sprite grows exclusively on Victory Royales, and mastering it unlocks new variants on top.
That design makes the Crown Sprite less a passive buff and more a visible trophy. Where every other Sprite measures time played, Crown measures matches won, echoing the Victory Crown system that gave crowned players a target on their back in past seasons. A high-level Crown Sprite trailing a player is an unfakeable signal: this person wins.
How to Get the Crown Sprite
The Crown Sprite is spotted near high and mountainous areas of the Season 4 island, and like every Override Sprite it can also turn up in chests and supply drops. As a Mythic it shares the roster's rarest tier with Klombo, so finding one is a long hunt — and the extraction rule is merciless: carry it out before the match ends or the find is lost. Extract successfully and the Crown Sprite joins your collection and Sprite Garden permanently, summonable in every future match. Winning any Battle Royale match also unlocks the base Crown Sprite.
Epic has not published Season 4 drop rates, so no percentage appears here — just the verified empty state, updated the day real numbers are released. Note the pleasant irony of the design: you do not need to win to find and extract the Crown Sprite, but you will need to win to make it grow.
Crown Sprite Variants — and What Mastery Unlocks
The Crown Sprite has six live forms: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker and — since September 17, with v42.20 — Bounty Hunter, plus Trick or Treat from October 1. Bounty Hunter made it the first Bounty Hunter Sprite in the game, a week ahead of the rest of the line. Gold Crown adds bonus Sprite XP from eliminations, and Cheat Master Crown renders the royal companion in green Matrix code-rain for the season's Cheat Code theme. Loot Hacker Crown wears a blue-violet, pixelated finish and gives you more items from your Loot Hacks. Bounty Hunter Crown wears the line's magenta hologram look and carries its bonus, a chance to find Sprites when you eliminate opponents, but like every Crown form it levels only from wins, not eliminations. But Crown has an extra wrinkle no other Season 4 Sprite shares: its special forms unlock through mastery, and one win with a Crown equipped masters it (Level 5).
Win any Battle Royale match for the base Crown, then win with each form equipped to unlock the next — Cheat Master, then Gold, then Loot Hacker, then Bounty Hunter Crown. From scratch, that is five Victory Royales. Bounty Hunter Crown is granted automatically the moment Loot Hacker Crown is mastered — players who had already won with Loot Hacker Crown equipped received it on September 17 — but until the rest of the Bounty Hunter line launched on September 24, the game hid it from the in-game collection screen after you earned it; the unlock is tied to your account, so tick the row once you have that win. Epic's v42.10 notes confirm the first mastery step: "Mastering the Crown Sprite now correctly grants its Cheat Master variant." For completionists, Crown is the deepest single entry on the Season 4 board, and the free Sprite Checklist tracks every Crown row separately.
Is the Crown Sprite Worth Chasing?
As a status symbol, nothing else in Season 4 comes close. The Crown Sprite is the only item in the game whose level is a win counter, and its mastery-gated variants give Fortnite's best players a collection goal that cannot be lucked into. If you are a casual player, be honest with yourself: your Crown will level slowly, and Klombo or a mobility Sprite will do more for your average match.
But that is exactly the point of a prestige Mythic — it is aspirational by design. Extract one early (finding it costs nothing but luck), let it ride along, and every Victory Royale from then on pays double: the win itself, plus permanent progress on the rarest progression track in the game. Your Sprite Garden will eventually display it to every visiting friend — level and all.
Trick or Treat Crown Is Live
Trick or Treat Crown is marked released in the fortnite.gg directory on October 1, 2026. It is the only live row in the new Trick or Treat line; the other Sprites remain upcoming. Crown still levels only through wins. The directory has not published a separate Trick or Treat bonus, and we have not independently verified its exact acquisition step, so the existing mastery chain should not be treated as confirmation of that step. Mark the new row when you have actually earned it.
