Open the Sprite Checklist →What the Bush Sprite Does in Season 4
The Bush Sprite is one of the Rare Sprites in the new Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" generation, and it revives Fortnite's oldest joke as a passive ability: it grants you a bush. Carry the Bush Sprite into a match and after a set duration it wraps you in bush cover automatically — no consumable item, no inventory slot. Level the Sprite up and the activation time between bushes gets shorter, so a leveled Bush Sprite keeps you leafy far more often than a fresh one. At max level it adds the aggressive twist: you also gain a bush immediately after an elimination, which turns every knock into an instant disappearing act.
That makes the Bush Sprite the stealth pick of the Season 4 roster. The classic bush was always a defensive item you had to find and carry; the Sprite version regenerates on its own, which is a genuinely different play pattern. Third-partying squads, rotating across open ground, or simply holding a quiet corner in late circles all get easier when your camouflage refreshes on a timer you can shorten by playing.
How to Get the Bush Sprite
Like every Sprite in the Override season, the Bush Sprite comes from playing matches: Sprites are found in chests and supply drops, and most of the Season 4 generation drops randomly rather than sitting in a fixed location. When you find one, finding it is not enough — you must extract before the match ends to keep it. Extract successfully and the Bush Sprite is permanently yours: it appears on your Collection page, joins your Sprite Garden instantly, and can be summoned in future matches.
Epic has not published Season 4 drop rates yet, for the Bush Sprite or any other — so any percentage you see quoted for Override Sprites right now is a guess. This page shows the verified state instead: the rate column stays empty until real numbers are published, and we update the same day they are. As a Rare, the Bush Sprite sits in the most common tier of the roster alongside Adventure, Jonesy and 8-Bit, so expect to see it earlier in your collecting run than the Epics and Mythics.
Bush Sprite Variants: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker and Bounty Hunter
The Bush Sprite has five live Season 4 variants: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker and, since Thursday, September 24, Bounty Hunter. All of them share the same bush-granting ability — the variant changes the look and stacks an extra bonus on top. Gold Bush is the shimmering premium version with bonus Sprite XP from eliminations, and Cheat Master Bush is the season's new Matrix-styled variant, dripping in green code-rain, tied to Season 4's Cheat Code mechanic. Loot Hacker Bush, named Loot Hacker Bushranger in-game, went live on September 10 and increases the chances of spawning items from your Loot Hacks. Bounty Hunter Bush gives you a chance to find Sprites when you eliminate opponents, but it gains Sprite XP only from eliminations.
A green bush that is literally made of glowing code is one of the funnier sights in the season, and because variants drop in matches just like the Normal version, completing the set is pure hunting. The "Loot Hacker Sprite Variant" Loot Hack (from 500 Sprite Dust) adds random Loot Hacker Sprites to your chest drops. Bounty Hunter Bush has a chance to appear when you eliminate opponents. Track the Bush rows on the free Sprite Checklist — each is ticked separately, exactly like your in-game collection.
Is the Bush Sprite Worth Using?
For stealth players, absolutely. The Bush Sprite is the only Sprite in the Season 4 roster that hides you on a timer — Blinky's cloak needs you to take damage first — and the max-level elimination bush is a real fighting tool, not just a gag — winning a fight in the open and instantly vanishing resets the lobby's information about you. Because the activation timer shrinks with every level, the Bush Sprite also rewards mastery more visibly than most passives: the difference between a level 1 and a max-level Bush is the difference between an occasional costume and near-permanent cover.
Its weakness is the same as the bush item's always was: a bush that moves is a bush that gets shot. If your squad plays loud and fast, the Sonic or Jackrabbit mobility Sprites will do more for you. But as a solo or endgame pick, the Bush Sprite has been a day-one favorite of the Override season — and since every extraction is permanent now, there is no reason not to grab and extract one the moment you see it.
Trick or Treat Variant: Upcoming
v42.30 added a Trick or Treat Bush Sprite icon on October 1, 2026, but this form is still marked unreleased in the Sprite directory. The five core forms remain live. The checklist shows Trick or Treat as Soon and excludes it from your completion total until its release is verified. The variant bonus and wider release date have not been published.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Bush Sprite do in Fortnite?
The Bush Sprite grants you a bush disguise after a set duration — automatically, with no item needed. The activation time decreases as the Sprite levels up, and at max level you also gain a bush immediately after an elimination.
How do I get the Bush Sprite in Chapter 7 Season 4?
Find it in chests and supply drops during Battle Royale matches — most Season 4 Sprites drop randomly. You must extract before the match ends to keep it permanently; after that it joins your collection and Sprite Garden and can be summoned in future matches.
What rarity is the Bush Sprite?
The Bush Sprite is Rare — the most common tier in the Season 4 roster, shared with Adventure, Jonesy, 8-Bit and Storm Scout. Rarity affects how hard it is to find, not how strong its ability is.
What variants does the Bush Sprite have?
Five live forms: Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker and Bounty Hunter, the newest, which went live on Thursday, September 24. All share the same bush ability; Gold adds bonus Sprite XP from eliminations, and Cheat Master is the Season 4 Matrix-code variant tied to the Cheat Code mechanic. Loot Hacker Bush (Loot Hacker Bushranger in-game), live since September 10, gives you more items from your Loot Hacks, and Bounty Hunter Bush adds a chance to find Sprites when eliminating opponents but gains Sprite XP only from eliminations.
What is the Bush Sprite's drop rate?
Epic has not published drop rates for any Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprite yet. We show the verified empty state instead of a made-up number, and we add real rates the day they are published.
