What Is the Cursed Variant?

Cursed is one of the Sprite variant lines in Fortnite Treasure Hunters, the season that started on November 1, 2026 with update v43.00. Epic scheduled Cursed Sprites for November 7, so unlike Fortune, the line was not part of the launch. As of November 2, no Cursed form was collectible.

Epic describes the Cursed bonus this way: “Increases your chance of finding rare Sprite variants, but water damages you.” It is the first line this season with a stated downside. The art files show a translucent, ghostly look with glowing eyes, which makes Cursed forms easy to tell apart from the red, gem-encrusted Fortune forms. Fortune, which datamines call Jeweled, adds “Reveals nearby Chests” and was live from day one for every three-form Sprite except Lil’ Uzi Vert Jr.; Cursed is a separate line with its own bonus.

Which Sprites Have a Cursed Form?

Cursed art exists for all 11 three-form Treasure Hunters Sprites: Halfpeel’d, Re-Pete, Barry O’Fish, Wayfinder, Chester, Kelper, Exmarks, Lil’ Squibbly, Lil’ Flacko, Lil’ Uzi Vert Jr. and Plundarrgh. Transponder Snail and Sweet Dreams are single-form Sprites and have no Cursed form, so their Cursed cells on the checklist show N/A.

Lil’ Uzi Vert Jr. is a special case. None of its three forms was live on November 2. Epic says Lil Uzi arrives on the island on November 7, the same day as Cursed, with “strange new Sprites”, but Epic does not name Lil’ Uzi Vert Jr., so its release is expected, not confirmed. Lil’ Flacko’s only published source is the A$AP Rocky Boss on Captain’s Day; Epic has not said whether its Cursed form drops there too.

The Water Drawback and Water-Themed Sprites

The catch is in Epic’s own wording: water damages you. How much damage, how often it ticks and whether shallow water counts have not been published. What is clear is that it works against the Sprites built around water.

Kelper restores health over time in water, so Cursed Kelper heals and hurts in the same place; whether you come out ahead depends on numbers Epic has not shared. Barry O’Fish reduces tactical sprint stamina drain in water, so its Cursed form makes its best environment risky. Lil’ Squibbly fishes a fishing hole when you jump in, and nothing published says whether that counts as water for the Cursed effect. These are logical observations from the published wording, not tested results.

What “Rare Sprite Variants” Means, and What Is Unknown

Epic has not said which variants count as “rare”, how much Cursed raises the chance, or whether the boost stacks when more than one Cursed Sprite is equipped. Following the pattern Fortune uses, each Cursed Sprite should keep its base ability with the Cursed bonus added, but that can only be confirmed once the forms are live.

No drop rates have been published for any Treasure Hunters Sprite or variant. The live directory’s 0% labels are placeholders, so this site leaves the Cursed rate empty. Epic also says Gold returns on November 12 with bonus XP from eliminating opponents, but no Gold art or rows exist yet, so Gold is not on the board.

Tracking Cursed Rows on the Checklist

Each Cursed form is its own row on the Sprite Checklist, with separate Collection and Mastery boxes. Cursed rows show Soon until they release, then become regular boxes to tick once you have the form. Owning the Normal or Fortune form of a Sprite does not count as owning its Cursed form.

Frequently asked questions

When do Cursed Sprites come out in Fortnite?

Epic scheduled Cursed Sprites for November 7, 2026. None were collectible on November 2.

What does the Cursed variant do?

In Epic’s words: “Increases your chance of finding rare Sprite variants, but water damages you.” The size of the boost and the water damage have not been published.

Which Sprites have a Cursed form?

All 11 three-form Treasure Hunters Sprites have Cursed art: Halfpeel’d, Re-Pete, Barry O’Fish, Wayfinder, Chester, Kelper, Exmarks, Lil’ Squibbly, Lil’ Flacko, Lil’ Uzi Vert Jr. and Plundarrgh.

Do Transponder Snail and Sweet Dreams have Cursed forms?

No. Both are single-form Sprites, so their Cursed cells show N/A.

Is Cursed Kelper worth using in water?

Unknown. Kelper heals in water and Cursed makes water damage you, but neither amount has been published.

Is Cursed the same as Fortune or Jeweled?

No. Fortune, which datamines call Jeweled, reveals nearby Chests and is already live. Cursed is a separate line with its own bonus and drawback.

What is the Cursed Sprite drop rate?

Unpublished. The directory’s 0% is a placeholder, so this site leaves the rate empty.
