What the Kelper Sprite Does

Kelper is an Epic Sprite from Fortnite Treasure Hunters, the season that started on Sunday, November 1, 2026 with update v43.00 and the new 80-player island, Crossbones Isle. It is a healing Sprite with one condition attached: you have to be in water.

The live Sprite directory describes Kelper’s ability as restoring health over time while you are in water, with the amount increasing each level. Epic’s Treasure Hunters notes do not include their own description of Kelper, so the directory wording is the only one published. It says health, so nothing published suggests Kelper restores shields. Kelper sits alongside Barry O’Fish and Lil’ Squibbly as one of the season’s water-focused Sprites, which fits an island themed around pirates and buried treasure.

How to Find and Collect Kelper

Kelper has been collectible since Treasure Hunters launched on November 1, 2026, in both its Normal and Fortune forms. No spawn location has been published, and neither has its summon cost, so this page does not name a landing spot.

General Sprite sources this season include Wanted Posters, which become Sprite Treasure Maps leading to a buried Sprite Chest when you tear them down, and Mastery Monday, when Epic doubles Sprite XP and Sprite Dust every Monday from 9 AM ET and puts out more Sprite Chests and Wanted Posters. Epic has not listed which Sprites those chests can contain, so they are extra chances, not a guaranteed Kelper.

No Treasure Hunters drop rates have been published. The live directory’s 0% labels are placeholders, so this site leaves Kelper’s rate empty rather than guessing.

Kelper Variants: Normal, Fortune and Cursed

Kelper is a three-form Sprite. Normal and Fortune are live, and Epic has scheduled the Cursed line for November 7. Each form keeps the same in-water healing.

Fortune Kelper adds Epic’s Fortune bonus: “Reveals nearby Chests.” Datamines and the game’s icon files call this line “Jeweled”, after its red, gem-encrusted look, so if you searched for a Jeweled Kelper, this is the same form.

Cursed Kelper is the interesting one. Its art is in the game files, with the line’s translucent, ghostly look and glowing eyes, and Epic says Cursed “Increases your chance of finding rare Sprite variants, but water damages you.” Kelper only heals in water, and Cursed makes water hurt. Neither the healing amount nor the water damage has been published, so nobody can say yet whether Cursed Kelper ends up gaining or losing health in water. Treat it as a real trade-off until it has been tested in game. Epic also says Gold returns on November 12, but no Gold art exists yet, so a Gold Kelper is not confirmed.

What Is Unpublished, and How to Play Around It

The healing amount, how often it ticks, how much it grows per level and the number of levels have not been published. The directory also does not say whether shallow water counts or whether you need to be swimming. Those details decide how useful Kelper is, so this page leaves them open.

In practice, Kelper gives water a purpose beyond crossing it: if you have to retreat or rotate through water, you can recover some health on the way. It does not help on dry land, so it suits players who already route along water. If you spend a lot of time in water, compare Barry O’Fish, which reduces tactical sprint stamina drain in water and gains Slap at max level. These are different effects, not a verified ranking.

Track Each Kelper Form Separately

The free Sprite Checklist gives each Kelper form its own row with separate Collection and Mastery boxes, so Normal Kelper does not count as Fortune Kelper. The Cursed Kelper row shows Soon until Cursed releases. Your Season 4 and Season 3 checklists stay separate, so older finds do not carry over.

Frequently asked questions

When did the Kelper Sprite release?

Sunday, November 1, 2026, with the v43.00 Treasure Hunters update. Normal and Fortune Kelper were live from launch.

What does the Kelper Sprite do?

The live directory says it restores health over time in water, and the amount increases each level. The exact numbers have not been published.

What rarity is Kelper?

Epic.

Does Cursed Kelper still heal in water?

Unconfirmed. Epic says Cursed makes water damage you, and Kelper heals in water. Neither amount has been published, so the net effect is unknown until it has been tested.

When does Cursed Kelper come out?

Epic has scheduled the Cursed line for November 7. Cursed Kelper art exists in the game files.

Is Jeweled Kelper the same as Fortune Kelper?

Yes. “Jeweled” is the datamine and icon-file name for the Fortune line, which adds “Reveals nearby Chests.”

What is the Kelper drop rate?

Unpublished. The directory’s 0% is a placeholder, so this site leaves the rate empty.
