Barry O’Fish is a Rare Sprite in Fortnite Treasure Hunters, which launched on Sunday, November 1, 2026 with update v43.00 and the new Crossbones Isle. It is a water Sprite, and it has been collectable since day one.
Its ability, in Epic’s words: “Spend less stamina while sprinting in water. Gain Slap effect at max level.” The live directory describes the first part as reduced tactical sprint stamina drain in water. So Barry O’Fish has two stages: a movement perk that works whenever you sprint through water, and a Slap effect that only switches on once the Sprite reaches its maximum level.
How to Find and Collect Barry O’Fish
Barry O’Fish has been live since November 1. No spawn area has been published, by Epic or in the directory, and neither has a summon cost. A water theme does not confirm a water spawn, so this page does not send you to any particular spot. So far only Lil’ Flacko, dropped by A$AP Rocky as a Boss on Captain’s Day, has a documented source.
No Treasure Hunters drop rates are published; the directory’s 0% labels are placeholders. Epic’s general tools still help: a torn-down Wanted Poster becomes a Sprite Treasure Map that leads to a buried Sprite Chest, and Mastery Monday, every Monday from 9 AM ET, adds 2x Sprite XP, 2x Sprite Dust and more Sprite Chests and Wanted Posters. Epic does not tie any of them to Barry O’Fish.
Barry O’Fish Variants: Normal, Fortune and Cursed
Barry O’Fish has three forms. Normal and Fortune are live. Epic describes the Fortune bonus in four words: “Reveals nearby Chests.” Fortune Barry O’Fish keeps the water sprint ability and adds that reveal. Datamines and the game’s icon files call the Fortune line “Jeweled”, with a red, gem-encrusted look, so Jeweled Barry O’Fish is the same form.
Cursed Barry O’Fish is not live. Epic says the Cursed line arrives on November 7 and describes it as “Increases your chance of finding rare Sprite variants, but water damages you.” That is an odd pairing for a Sprite built around water: the base ability rewards sprinting in water, while the Cursed drawback punishes being in it. Epic has not explained how the two interact or how much damage water deals, so wait for the release before planning around it. Gold returns on November 12, per Epic, but no source says which Sprites get it.
What Is Unpublished, and How to Play Around It
Neither source says how much stamina Barry O’Fish saves, whether the saving grows before max level, what the Slap effect actually does, or which level counts as max. Treat the Slap as a reward you will see once you level the Sprite fully, not something with known numbers.
In practice, Barry O’Fish suits players who rotate through water often, since lower stamina drain means longer sprints between dry ground. Leveling it matters more than usual, because the second half of the ability is locked until max level. If you want a water Sprite that heals instead, compare Kelper, which restores health over time in water. If you want mobility from looting, compare Plundarrgh, which grants pickaxe and movement speed when you open a chest. These are different jobs, not a verified ranking.
Track Each Barry O’Fish Form Separately
The free Sprite Checklist gives each Barry O’Fish form its own row with separate Collection and Mastery boxes, which is useful here because reaching max level is a goal of its own. The Cursed row shows Soon until November 7.
Leveling is also tracked in-game. The Sprite Mastery track is back under the Treasure tab in the Lobby, with a new page unlocking every week, and Sprites from this season now carry a Sprite Stamp that shows how you got them; View Info explains each Stamp. Tick a Barry O’Fish form on your checklist only once it is actually in your collection; a new icon in the game files is not a find.
