How Many Sprites Are There in Fortnite?

As of 2026-09-26, there are 21 base Sprites and 101 released variant rows (505 mastery levels) in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 “Override.” The archived Season 3 roster is kept separate so the current total stays meaningful.

The verified Sprite count

The current checklist contains 101 released variant rows across 21 obtainable Season 4 Sprites. Every released Sprite except Mega Man has five live forms — Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker, and Bounty Hunter — and Mega Man is a single-form Sprite. Bounty Hunter Crown went live with v42.20 on September 17 as a mastery unlock; the other Bounty Hunter forms followed on September 24, the same day Morgana was released with all five forms, and Birthday was released with all five on September 26. Announced content stays out of the denominator until it is actually released, so your completion percentage only counts what you can collect. The Season 3 checklist remains available without inflating this count.

Released variants by type

Each Season 4 Sprite can appear in up to four special forms, and Epic releases those forms in waves — which is why the total keeps moving even in weeks with no brand-new Sprite. This is the current released breakdown:

Variant typeReleased rows
Normal Sprite variant example Normal (base Sprites) 21
Gold Sprite variant example Gold Sprites 20
Cheat Master Sprite variant example Cheat Master Sprites 20
Loot Hacker Sprite variant example Loot Hacker Sprites 20
Bounty Hunter Sprite variant example Bounty Hunter Sprites 20
Total released variant rows101

Season 4 has five live forms — Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker (Crown's since September 3, the next 14 since September 10, and each newer Sprite's from its release day), and Bounty Hunter (Crown's since September 17 — win with Loot Hacker Crown equipped — every other released variant-capable Sprite's since September 24, and Birthday's since September 26). See the variant comparison for each bonus. Drop rates are shown as unpublished until Epic or an independently verified in-game source provides real values.

How the count has grown

  • v42.00 (2026-08-20 → 2026-08-29): added Bush, Adventure, Jonesy, 8-Bit, Storm Scout, Shadow, Tails, Killswitch, Sonic, Jackrabbit, Klombo, Crown.
  • v42.10 (2026-09-03): added Overshield, Mega Man, Onigiri, X-Ray.
  • v42.20 (2026-09-17 → 2026-09-26): added Birthday, Pond, Morgana, Blinky, Crash Bandicoot.

The eleven launch Sprites arrived with v42.00 on August 20, Storm Scout joined the same patch's roster on August 29 during Sonic Power Hours, and v42.10 added X-Ray, Onigiri, Overshield, and Mega Man on September 3 along with the first Loot Hacker row (Crown's). The other 14 Loot Hacker rows went live on September 10, taking the board from 47 to 61 rows, and v42.20 added Blinky, Crash Bandicoot, and Pond on September 17 for 73 rows — plus Bounty Hunter Crown, the first Bounty Hunter row, live the same day and verified on September 19, for 74. On September 24 the other 17 released Sprites' Bounty Hunter rows went live and Morgana was released with all five forms, taking the board to 96 rows, and Birthday followed with all five forms on September 26 for 101. Future verified roster changes will appear here automatically; What's New records each change.

Why the number keeps changing

New Sprites can appear, candidates can be delayed, and variant availability can change. A static article quickly goes stale, so this page recalculates from the same release-gated roster as the tracker. Unconfirmed entries never reduce your completion percentage.

How we verify this count

Every week we cross-check the roster against the live game and multiple sources: in-game collection screens, Epic's patch notes, and community datamines. Drop rates and variant availability are verified against the game's own published rates, and anything that sources disagree on is checked in-game before it is counted. If a variant is disabled or delayed, it is moved out of the released count the same day. The result is a number you can cite — with a visible “last updated” date and patch number, not a guess.

Frequently asked questions

How many Sprites are there in Fortnite right now?

There are 21 base Sprites and 101 released variant rows as of 2026-09-26 (patch v42.20).

Why do some sites show a different number?

This page counts the 21 Season 4 Sprites verified as obtainable and their 101 released Normal, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker, and Bounty Hunter rows. Announced-but-unreleased content is not counted until it goes live — as of September 26 every Sprite and variant in the v42.20 files is released, and Design-A-Sprite winners Dumpster Dive and Honey are not in the game yet. The separate Season 3 checklist is not mixed into current-season completion.

Does Epic add more Sprites?

Yes. The roster can change during the season, so this page is generated from the same dated dataset as the checklist.

Do unreleased variants count toward completion?

No. This count — and the checklist — only includes variants that are actually obtainable in the game today, so your completion percentage is never diluted by content you cannot collect yet.
